TossLess

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 31 October 2026

In short: this page covers two things, the TossLess app and the tosslessapp.com website. The app has no account and keeps your food list on your iPhone. The only things that leave your phone are a barcode number when you scan one, and purchase details when you buy TossLess Pro. The website counts visits and runs an optional email waitlist. We never sell data.

Who we are

TossLess is an iPhone app made by the TossLess team (“we”, “us”). If you have a question about this policy or your data, write tocontact@tosslessapp.com.

The TossLess app

This part covers the iPhone app.

What stays on your iPhone

Everything you enter in TossLess is stored only on your device. That includes the food you add, its dates, storage place and quantity, your shopping list, what you marked as eaten or tossed, and your settings, such as reminder time, appearance and currency. We can't see this information and we don't receive a copy. Money-saved figures in Stats are estimates calculated on your device.

TossLess does not sync between devices. If you delete the app, this information is deleted with it.

Barcode lookups (Open Food Facts)

When you scan a barcode, the app sends only the barcode number to Open Food Facts, a free public food database, to look up the product name, size and category. No other information about you or your list is sent. Like any website, Open Food Facts receives your device's IP address when it answers the request. Theirprivacy policy applies to that. The result is saved on your iPhone so the same product is instant next time.

Camera

The camera is used only to read barcodes while the scanner is open. No photos or video are saved or sent anywhere. You can turn camera access off at any time in iOS Settings › TossLess.

Reminders

Daily reminders are local notifications created on your iPhone. They are not sent from a server, and their content, such as “3 things to use tonight”, is put together on your device. You can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings.

Purchases (TossLess Pro)

Payments are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, Apple ID, email address or payment details.

To know whether your Pro subscription or purchase is active, and to let you restore it, TossLess usesRevenueCat, a service that processes purchases for us. RevenueCat receives:

This is used only to provide and check your purchases. It is not used for advertising. SeeRevenueCat's privacy policy andApple's privacy policy.

What the app doesn't do

This website

This part covers tosslessapp.com, which is separate from the app.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It does not use cookies and does not track you across sites.

Email signup

Why we process this information

Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we process purchase information to provide what you bought (performance of a contract), and barcode lookups because you asked for them by scanning (our legitimate interest in providing the feature). We use your email address for the waitlist because you asked to join it (consent), and you can withdraw that at any time.

Keeping and deleting your information

Information on your iPhone stays until you delete it in the app or delete the app. RevenueCat keeps purchase records for as long as needed to provide your purchases and to meet legal and tax obligations. To ask for the purchase data linked to your anonymous ID to be deleted, write to us and we'll handle it with RevenueCat. Open Food Facts does not receive anything that identifies you beyond the request itself. Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, to object to or limit its use, and to complain to your data protection authority. Because almost everything in the app stays on your device, you can see and delete most of it yourself there. For anything else, contact us at contact@tosslessapp.com.

Children

TossLess is not aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how TossLess handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Important changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
